Octave Circle was inspired by the musical octave. I became interested to see if the character of the octave would be maintained if it was made as a visual thing – as opposed to an auditory thing, so I took the maths of the octave and translated it to sizes and weights. The metal sculpture combines atheistic beauty with a philosophical intrigue. I made it so that each ring can rotate on the vertical axis independently. It be be hung or it can stand on a plinth. I found this informed my enquiry into constancy and change.

With thanks to Inspired Metal.
