This was more or less the first sculpture I made... Nothing like starting large! It was while I was at art college in 2010. I based it on Stubbs’ ‘Whistlejacket’. It took 220 recycled coca cola drinks cans, all cut into long ribbons and threaded through wire mesh (all of which I personally retreived from the bin, and all of which I cut by hand). 

 

I learned valuable lessons in the making – in particular while watching my hands doing the work, and learning how not to get cut to shreds in the process! – a skill they used in other of my recycled work.
