Starting with ‘My Space’ and ‘Being Me’, I created a series of ‘self-portrait’ sculptures, exploring different ways to reference the constancy and change in me, using the idea of layers and spaces. This is an early version.
Interestingly a perennial ‘thing’ for sculptors is plinths and bases. There are those who feel strongly that a sculpture should stand on its own – which I have some sympathy with. In this case, I used the horizontal sections of my body to create some height for the head!
