I made this graceful trotting horse mainly because of lessons learned while making the White Horse of Hanover and the Unicorn of Scotland as part of my Queens Beasts series in 2011.
She was named by a little girl who lives very near my workshop, and who witnessed stages of her creation. When my horse was nearly finished, I asked the girl what she should be called. “Her name is Penelope” she said with absolute certainty….
She made a guest appearance in the Royal Enclosure at Royal Ascot, and is shown here at the Beaufort polo club.
