‘My Space’ was the first sculpture I made in layers. I had been exploring how art might reveal the essence of someone (in this case me). I wanted to express the distance I keep…the space I choose around me – space for me, and space from others. I wanted to explore the parallel desires of wanting to be known and not wanting to be known.
These sculptures introduced me to 3D scanning and to laser cutting – processes that place the work in the ’now’.
